  • Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) statement: A statement explaining the student’s genuine intention to study in Australia and return to their home country after completing their studies, as assessed through the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement.
  • Passport: A valid passport that is valid for the duration of the intended stay in Australia.
  • English language proficiency: Evidence of English language proficiency, such as results from an approved English language test like IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE.
  • Financial documents: Evidence of sufficient funds to cover the cost of tuition fees, living expenses, and other costs during the intended stay in Australia, such as bank statements, scholarship letters, or financial sponsor documents.
  • Health insurance: Evidence of Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) or similar health insurance coverage for the duration of the intended stay in Australia.
  • Character documents: Police clearance certificates or other character documents as required by the Department of Home Affairs to demonstrate good character.

  • Financial documents of the family member(s): Evidence of the financial capacity of the family member(s) in Australia to support the applicant, such as bank statements, employment contracts, or tax returns.
  • Accommodation details: Evidence of suitable accommodation arrangements for the applicant in Australia, such as a rental agreement or a letter of invitation from the family member(s) providing accommodation.
  • Assurance of Support: If required, an Assurance of Support (AoS) from the family member(s) in Australia, which is a legal commitment to provide financial support to the applicant during their stay in Australia.
  • Additional character documents: Police clearance certificates or other character documents for the family member(s) in Australia, if requested by the Department of Home Affairs.
If the applicant is intending to stay more than 3 months:
  • If the applicant is intending to stay in Australia for more than 3 months, in addition to the documents mentioned earlier for a student visa, the following documents may also be required:

  • Tuberculosis (TB) screening: If the applicant is from a country with a high risk of TB, a chest X-ray or sputum test may be required to screen for TB and provide the results along with the visa application.
  • Biometric collection: The applicant may be required to provide biometric information, such as fingerprints and facial photograph, at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) or an Australian embassy or consulate.
  • Overseas penal clearance: If the applicant has lived or spent more than 12 months in the last 10 years in a country other than Australia, a police clearance certificate from that country may be required to prove the applicant’s good character.
